LAWTON,
Okla. – The
Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry are hosting the Cavs Spring Break Basketball Camp Mar
17 and 18 at Cameron University’s Fitness Center.
Children ages 5-12 can
sign up for the camp and be coached by 4 time NBA All-Star and 2 time CBA
Champion Cavs Head Coach Michael Ray Richardson.
Cavs co-owner Michael
Brown said that the Cavs wanted to offer parents a fun alternative for Spring
Break.
“Parents
can drop their kids off at our camp to learn the fundamentals of basketball
with Coach Richardson,” Brown said. “It is a way to encourage kids to be active
and have fun at the same time.”
Camp for children ages 5-8 is from
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camp for children ages 9-12 is from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30
p.m. Children from both camps can watch the Cavs players practice in between
sessions.
Coach
Richardson said that he wanted to give the kids a chance to see how
professional athletes practice and how they work as a team.
“We
want to have fun with the kids and teach them important lessons they can use
both on and off the court,” Coach Richardson said. “We want the kids to
understand how essential teamwork is to being successful.”
The camp fee is $35 for
one day or $60 for both days. Campers will receive a Cavs t-shirt and a $5 gift
card to LOL.
Parents
can register their children at the Cavs office located in Central Mall next to
Adventure Travel. Parents must bring the registration form and the release form
with them to the camp to turn in. Parents can also pay the camp fee at the Cavs
office or on the first day of the camp.
